Our days vary a lot, as you have seen, but we thought we would put this list together to give you an idea of a typical day…
- Alarm 6.15
- Get up 6.30
- Pack inside of tent: sleeping bags (It’s cold at night!), fold sheets, water bottle, books, nightclothes, small lamp, close all windows.
- Let tent air
- Get chairs down from roof (animal safety zone)
- Boil kettle on gas – make tea,
- Make cereal, maybe bread roll with marmite (for John only!)
- Take Anti-malarial
- Washing up from last night & this morning
- Remove pegs & rain cover pegs
- Fold tent away
- Zip cover on & straps down
- Pack away stepladder
- Wash face & brush teeth
- Fill water bottles
- Set off 8.00
- Drive, experience, adventure
- Lunch 12.30 – leftovers from last night’s dinner with cold drink from fridge (& maybe a biscuit!)
- Drive, experience, adventure
- Arrive at campsite 16.00
- Unpack chairs16.01
- Cold drink in hand 16.03
- Start the fire 16.30
- Unpack table
- Unzip the cover & straps
- Unfold the tent
- Insert all pegs (& ladder extension if necessary)
- Open tent windows – important for air circulation
- Put sleeping bags & night bag up in tent
- Start cooking
- Lay the table
- Meet other campers
- Eat 17.30
- Watch the sunset 18.30
- Sit with fire until it goes out: tea/coffee & prepare for next day
- Pack washing up into bowl for tomorrow
- Chairs on the roof
- Pack away table
- Clean & pack away pots, grill & tripod
- Brush teeth
- Get into the tent
- Stargaze from the tent
- Read
- Sleep 22.00
*For all of the above, give or take 2 hours!
